Popo vs Criminal

Out in the midst of lush plains, is a place called HetaCity. Despite being a good distance away from other civilizations, HetaCity is actually quite advanced. There are many skyscrapers that dot the town as well as apartments, housing complexes, malls, and parks. The population inside is quite numerous and really, just like any other city.

However, the location of this metropolitan city is not the only unique thing about it. The city is divided into two equal pieces. To be exact, it's not physically divided by walls or fences. This town is controlled by the government in the northern part, it has police departments, firemen, and so on. What's surprising, is that the in the southern half, the people are governed by large criminal organizations. Things such as mafia families, gangs, and thugs. To those that visit, it's as if criminal life has created its own system to govern by.

Normally, one would think that the government would immediately seek out to destroy this strange system in the south. Well, they had done that. When they got down there to reconquer what should already be theirs, they were surprised to find that the forces waiting for them were just as powerful as they were. No one's sure how that strong hold on the South hadn't broke down after the first few months, but the next year saw the town in two parts as it is today.

Yesterday was election day. A new governor was voted into office, and he's determined to restart the fight to conquer the South.

Gilbert lives in the South. He feels safer there as nobody will disturb him. Whenever he is free, he will go over to the North and earn some quick money. The system there seems to be in order that he thinks that a little disturbance will not matter.

It is another one of the usual days as he walks casually around the streets of the North. He passes by an electronic shop and happens to listen to the news broadcast. 'A new governor was voted into the office, and he's determined to restart the fight to conquer the South'? He grins. Nobody can beat his awesomeness! He walked away casually, while planning his next move.

"Not afraid of the Mafia men, eh?." Lovino muttered to himself, kicking the lifeless body below him. "Stupid fucking drug dealer." He searched the corpse's pockets for something of value, finding his wallet. Inside was 2 twenty and 3 five dollar bills with the 5 grams of Marijuana the drug dealer was about to sell to Lovino, but wouldn't sell to him for only $20. "Hell naw kid, it's 80 dolla'. I don't not care if you're in the mafia, you ain't intimidating me." He had said that in his stupid accent, being is last words. "Bastard." Lovino stuffed the goods in his pockets of his brown suit and left the scene, not even checking to see if anyone was around. No one was, so it just saved Lovino some scowls at disgusted eyes.

While on the way to meet up with some family (The Mafia; more specifically the Di Stefano Clan. It's a fictional family, just btw.), a stray news paper on the side of the sidewalk caught his eye. Being almost intrigued, he glaced over and saw the title reading "A NEW GOVERNER VOTED INTO OFFICE AND HE'S DETERMINED TO RESTART THE FIGHT TO CONQUER THE SOUTH."
"What a stupid bastard." He scoffed, and shoved the paper into his pocket. "The Family will surely find this interesting."

To those looking upon the city on the outside, it would appear peaceful, orderly, perhaps even normal. To those actually in the city, it was chaos. The police station in particular, where Roderich worked. Being a detective, he wasn't one of those that defied the unspoken law never to wander down south, but he did have to report after-affects of crime scenes. Boy, were there crime scenes. The people of the Northern half have always been disgruntled with things down South, but now that they've elected the slick-tongued governor everybody has been acting up. The crime rate of the city blew up sky-high and the police haven't actually done anything yet.

Roderich actually started bringing a pillow to work seeing as though there was no time to have a day off with all this ruckuss. A lot of the other detectives in the police force were in the same position. "Man, our jail is already full. What did the governor think we could do with all these people?" Roderich tuned into the conversation of his coworkers while continuing to work. Just like everybody else had to.

Another detective spoke up, "Hey, now wait a second! The governor thinks? When did this happen?" Laughter broke out among the clutter of desks. Even Roderich, who usually was as strict as a diamond was hard, grinned at the comment.

The sound of writing caught up again and before too long the police radios acted up. There was another case that needed work on. Not bothering to hide his annoyance, Roderich answered the call, and stood up to go to yet another crime scene. Oh the joys of being a detective these days.
